Ülkemizin gelişen ve üreten sektörü olan demir çelik sanayi, meydana getirdiği atık miktarı ile de büyük bir öneme sahiptir. Cevher ve hurda metalden üretim gerçekleştiren demir çelik sektörü, hammadde türüne göre entegre ve elektrik ark ocaklı demir çelik tesisi olarak ikiye ayrılmaktadır. Türkiye՚de bulunan demir çelik tesislerinin ise çoğunluğu entegre demir çelik tesisleridir. Bu tesislerden meydana gelen katı atıklar cüruf, baca tozları, çamurları ve tozlaştırma tozları ile birlikte tufallerden oluşmaktadır. Demir çelik tesislerinden kaynaklanan katı atıkların birçok alanda geri dönüşümü sağlanabilmekte ve ekonomiye katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışma kapsamında, demir çelik sektöründen kaynaklanan atıkların belirlenmesi, oluşan atıkların geri dönüşümü ve tekrar kullanımı açısından değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Ülkemizdeki elektrik ark ocaklı tesislerden biri olan Baştuğ Metalürji San. A.Ş. demir-çelik tesisinin çelikhane ünitesi Mevcut En İyi Teknikler (MET) kapsamında incelenmiştir. İşletmenin çelikhane bölümünde yapılan incelemelerde mevcut durumun, MET Referans Dokümanı (BREF) ile büyük oranda uyumlu olduğu ve EKÖK (Entegre Kirlilik Önleme ve Kontrol) direktifinin gereklerini karşıladığı tespit edilmiştir.
Iron and steel industry, which is the developing and producing sector of our country, has a great importance with the amount of waste it generates. The iron and steel industry, which produces from ore and scrap metal, is divided into two type depending on the raw material as integrated and-iron and steel plant with an electric arc furnace. The majority of the iron and steel plants in Turkey are integrated iron and steel plant. Solid wastes from these facilities consist of slag, flue dusts, muds and dusting powders, as well as scaling. Solid wastes from iron and steel plants can be recycled in many areas and contribute to the economy. Within the scope of this study, it is aimed to determine the wastes originating from the iron and steel industry, and to evaluate the wastes in terms of recycling and reuse. The steelwork unit of Baştuğ Metallurgy Co. Inc. iron and steel plant, which is one of the electric arc furnace facilities in Turkey, has been examined within the scope of the Best Available Techniques (BAT). According to the results of investigation carried out in the steel plant, it was determined that the current situation is highly compatible with BREF (Best Available Technics Reference Document) and the plant meets the requirements of IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control) directive.
