Şile'de turizm faaliyetlerinin şehirsel gelişime etkileri ve bu etkiler dikkate alınarak sürdürülebilir bir gelişim için bölgede ne tür çalışmaların yapılması gerektiğini ortaya koymayı amaçlayan bu çalışma tarama modeline uygun olarak yürütülmüştür. Nitel araştırma yaklaşımının benimsendiği araştırma süreçlerinde ilgili literatür taranmış ve çok sayıda resmi doküman ile veri incelenmiştir. Bununla birlikte araştırma süresince saha ziyaretleri gerçekleştirilerek gözlem ve incelemelerde bulunulmuştur. Çalışmada ayrıca güvenilirliği artırmak amacıyla veri çeşitliliğini sağlamak üzere araştırma sahasına ilişkin bilgi sahibi olan ve bölgede çalışan kamu görevlileri, ikinci konut sahipleri, yerel halk ve ziyaretçilerden oluşan toplam 27 kişi ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme gerçekleştirilmiştir. Elde edilen veriler betimsel ve içerik analizine tabi tutularak yorumlanmıştır. Araştırmada Şile'de gerçekleşen turizm ve rekreasyon faaliyetlerinin İlçenin şehirsel gelişimi üzerindeki etkileri; şehirsel arazi kullanımı, konut artışı ve mekânsal gelişim, nüfus gelişimi, çevresel etkiler, ekonomik etkiler ve toplumsal kültürel etkiler başlıkları altında incelenmiştir. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; ilçede yerleşim alanları büyük bir hızla artış göstermekte, buna karşın akarsu, göl ve orman alanlarının yanı sıra mera ve kuru tarım alanları daralmaktadır. Bu genel değişim Şile'de hızla artmakta olan yapılaşma ile ilişkilidir. İlçede özellikle ikinci konut sayıları hızla artmakta ve bu artış mekânsal gelişim üzerinde önemli etkiler ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Turizm Şile'de nüfus üzerinde de önemli bir etkiye sahiptir. İlçede yaşanan mevsimsel hareketliliğin yanında yerleşik nüfusun da artış eğiliminde olduğu görülmektedir. Araştırmada turizmin ekonomik açıdan ilçe için öneme sahip olduğu; turistik tesis, özel iş yeri ve işveren sayılarının turizmin gelişimiyle birlikte hızlandığı tespit edilmiştir. Buna karşın Şile'de günübirlik ziyaretlerin yaygın olması nedeniyle turizm ekonomik gelişim üzerinde beklenenden daha sınırlı bir etkiye sahiptir. Bulgular çerçevesinde turizm ile yerel ekonomi arasındaki bağın yeterince güçlü olmadığı, turizm faaliyetlerinin ekonomi üzerindeki olumlu etkilerine karşın bu etkinin çoğunlukla mevsimsel olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Turizmin çevresel etkileri konusunda ise doğanın aşırı ve bilinçsiz kullanımı nedeniyle kıyılar, kumul alanları, ormanlar ve su kaynakları başta olmak üzere pek çok doğal alanın mevsimsel olarak önemli düzeyde kirlenebildiği ve zarar görebildiği görülmektedir. Araştırma bulguları çerçevesinde Şile'de sürdürülebilir gelişimi sağlamak üzere; doğal ve kültürel yapının korunması, deniz turizminde aşırı yoğunluktan kaynaklanan sorunların giderilmesi, tesislerin hem nicelik hem de nitelik olarak iyileştirilmesi, kültür, gastronomi, eğitim, sağlık ve doğa turizmi açısından potansiyelin etkin biçimde kullanılarak turizmin bütün yıla yayılması gerektiği sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.
This study aims to reveal the effects of tourism on urban development in Şile by examining and the potential policy opportunities for the region to support sustainable development. This research has been carried out by the screening model. During the research processes in which the qualitative research approach was adopted, the relevant literature was scanned and many official documents and data were analyzed. Also, during the research, field visits, observations, and examinations were made. In the study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 27 people consisting of public officials, summerhouse owners, residents, and visitors who have knowledge of the research field and work in the region to increase the reliability of the study. The obtained data were interpreted by being subjected to descriptive and content analysis. In this study, the effects of tourism on the urban development of Şile; urban land use, housing growth and spatial development, population development, environmental, economic, and social-cultural impacts are examined under different sections. According to the results of this study, the settlement areas in the district are increasing, while the rivers, lakes and forest areas, and pasture and dry agricultural areas are shrinking. This general change is related to the increasing constructions in Şile. Especially in this town, the number of summerhouses is increasing, which has significant effects on spatial development. Tourism also has a significant impact on the population in this town. Also to the seasonal dynamism in the district, it is seen that the population is also in an increasing trend. This study shows that tourism is economically important for Şile. The number of touristic facilities, private workplaces, and employers has accelerated with the development of tourism in this town. But, tourism has a limited effect on economic development than expected due to the prevalence of daily visits in this town. Within the framework of the findings, it is understood that the link between tourism and the local economy is not strong enough, despite the positive effects of tourism activities on the economy, this effect is seasonal. About the environmental impacts of tourism, it is seen that many natural areas, especially coasts, dune areas, forests, and water resources, can be polluted and damaged at a significant level seasonally due to excessive and unconscious use of nature. To ensure sustainable development in Şile, research findings show that; tourism should be spread throughout the year by using the potential culture, gastronomy, education, health, and nature tourism. Also, the problems arising from the excessive intensity in sea tourism should be ended, improved the facilities both quantity and quality, and protected the natural and cultural structure.
