Bu çalışmanın amacı gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan 11 ülkeden seçilen 33 borsa endeksinde Adaptif Piyasalar Hipotezi'nin varlığına dair kanıt aramaktır. Bu amaçla elde edilen verilere öncelikle Harvey ve Diğ. (2008) tarafından önerilen Doğrusallık testi uygulanmıştır. Doğrusallık testi sonucunda doğrusal olan endeks verilerine ZA (1992) ve LS (2013) tek kırılmalı birim kök testleri ile NP (2010) ve LS (2003) iki kırılmalı birim kök testleri yapılmıştır. Doğrusal olmayan endeks verilerine ise ESTAR tipi KSS ve tau (τ) birim kök testleri uygulanmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarında elde edilen bulgular yapılan testlere göre farklılık göstermektedir. Gelişmiş ülkelerden ABD, Çin, Rusya ve Japonya endeksleri, gelişmekte olan ülkelerden Hindistan ve Polonya endeksleri için Adaptif Piyasalar Hipotezi geçerlidir. Yine gelişmiş ülkelerden İngiltere ve Almanya, gelişmekte olan ülkelerden Endonezya, Tayland ve Türkiye için Adaptif Piyasalar Hipotezi geçerli değildir. Endekslerin kırılma tarihlerine göz atıldığında Çin ve Rusya hariç diğer ülkelerde 2020 yılının ilk çeyreğinde kırılmalar görülmektedir. Bu kırılmalar COVİD-19 salgınının başladığı ve yayıldığı dönemlere denk gelmektedir. Diğer kırılmalar ülkelerin iç ve dış ekonomik etkenlerinden kaynaklanmaktayken, COVİD-19 küresel bir etken olarak tüm ülkeleri ve piyasaları etkilemiştir. Çalışmanın esas konusu, hisse senedi piyasalarının adaptif olup olmadığını araştırırken bu araştırmayı tüm ülkeleri etkileyen bir etkenle bağdaştırmaktır. Dikkat edilecek olursa COVİD-19 salgınının çıktığı ilk aylarda piyasalar şok yaşadığından tepki vermiş fakat daha sonra (2020 yılının diğer aylarında) herhangi bir kırılma görülmemiştir. Bu durum ekonominin küresel bir durgunluk yaşamasından kaynaklansa da asıl neden piyasaların belirsizliğe adapte olmasındandır.
The purpose of this research is to seek evidence for the Adaptive Markets Hypothesis in 33 stock market indices selected from 11 developed and developing countries. Therefore, firstly Harvey et al. The linearity test recommended by (2008) was applied. As a result of the linearity test, ZA (1992) and LS (2013) unit root tests with break and NP (2010) and LS (2003) two-break unit root tests were performed on the index data that were linear. ESTAR type KSS and tau (τ) unit root tests were applied to the nonlinear index data. The findings obtained from the analysis results differ according to the tests performed. APH is valid for developed country USA, China, Russia and Japan indices, developing country India and Poland indices. APH is not valid for developed countries, Britain and Germany, developing countries, Indonesia, Thailand and Turkey. Looking at the breaking dates of the indices, breakdowns are seen in other countries in the first quarter of 2020, excluding China and Russia. These breaks coincide with the periods when the COVID-19 epidemic started and spread. While other breakdowns were caused by domestic and foreign economic factors of the countries, COVID-19 affected all countries and markets as a global factor. The main subject of the study is to associate this research with a factor that affects all countries while investigating whether the stock markets are adaptive. If you pay attention, in the first months of the COVID-19 epidemic, the markets reacted as they were shocked, but later (in the other months of 2020) there was no break. Although this situation stems from the fact that the economy has entered a global recession, the real reason is that the markets have adapted to uncertainty.
