Klorlama, bakteri ve virüslere karşı güvenli su temini yaptı ve neredeyse tifo, kolera ve dizanteri gibi su kaynaklı
hastalıkları tamamen ortadan kaldırdı. Bununla birlikte, sağlık için yapılan klorlama bazı dezenfeksiyondan yan ürünleri
risklerini ortaya çıkarttı.
Çoklu maruziyet yolu boyunca, çoklu ortam ve çoklu kirleticilere olan toplam maruziyeti hesaplamak için yeni bir indeks
bulundu: toplam maruziyet indeksi (TMİ). TMİ, bileşen maruziyetin eklenebilir olduğunu varsayarak ve birden çok
kirleticilere maruz kalmayı ortam ve maruziyet yolu boyunca normalleştirilmiş bir toplam maruz kalma bileşenleri olarak
ekler. Bir kontrol stratejisinin etkinliğini kestirmek pahalı ve zaman alıcı bir epidemiyolojik araştırma gerektirir. Bir kontrol
stratejisinin uygulamaya konduktan birkaç yıl sonra etkinliğini değerlendirmek için kümülatif risk (KR) ile ilişkilendiren TMİ
bir ilk adım olarak kullanılabilir.
Bu çalışma, birden çok yol ve çoklu medya boyunca evdeki trihalomethanların (THM) toplam maruz kalma ve risk
değerlendirmesine TMİ ve kümülatif risk yöntemi kullanılarak ulaşılır. THM’nin toksik etkilerinden birisi karaciğer kanseridir.
Risk yöneticisi, THM’nin TMİ ile KR arasındaki ilişkiye ve seçilen kabul edilebilir risk düzeyine göre, kabul edilebilir
bir risk seviyesine ulaşmak için etkili bir azaltma stratejisi belirlemesi mümkün olacaktır.
Chlorination has made water supply safe from bacteria and viruses, and has almost completely eliminated risks of
waterborne diseases such as typhoid fever, cholera and dysentery. However, the health benefit of chlorination has introduced
some possible risks from the by-products of the disinfection process.
A new metric is introduced to estimate total exposure to multiple pollutants across media and routes: The Total Exposure
Index (TMİ). The TMİ assumes that component exposures are additive but adds exposures to multiple pollutants across media
and routes as a normalized sum of component exposures. Estimating the efficiency of a control strategy requires an expensive
and time-consuming epidemiological investigation. A model relationship that associates TMİ with cumulative risk (CR) may
be used as a first step to assess the efficiency of a control strategy a few years after the strategy has been implemented.
This study assesses total exposure and risk from multiple routes and multiple media residential exposure to THMs using
the TMİ and cumulative risk assessment method. One of THMs toxic effects is liver cancer.Based on the relationship between TMİ and CR of THMs and the selected acceptable risk level, the risk manager will be
able to identify an efficient reduction strategy to reach an acceptable risk level.
