Ülkemiz gerek coğrafi gerek jeomorfolojik konumu nedeniyle doğal afetlerle yüz yüzedir. Doğal afetlerin, büyük can ve mal kayıplarına neden olduğu ülkemizde yerleşim alanlarının planlanmasında, zemin özellikleri açısından güvenli ve riskli olan bölgelerin tespit edilmesi oldukça önem arz etmektedir. Zeminlerin mühendislik açısından değerlendirilip bölgedeki değişimin gösterilmesinde değişik teknikler kullanılmaktadır. Bu teknikler arasında Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemi sağladığı zaman, maliyet, görsellik, işlem kolaylığı gibi imkânları sayesinde diğerlerine göre üstünlük sağlamaktadır. Nevşehir bölgesinin jeolojik açıdan temelini Kırşehir masifine ait Paleozoyik-Mesozoyik yaşlı Ortaköy Granitoyidleri oluşturur. Bölgede Orta-Üst Miyosen'de başlayarak Kuvaterner sürecinde devam etmiş yoğun karasal volkanizma ürünleri olan Tuzköy, Yüksekli ve Ürgüp Formasyonları yer almaktadır. Bu birimlerin dışında volkanoklastik kayaçlar tüm bu birimleri örterek bölgede geniş yüzeylenme sunarlar. Bu çalışma ile Nevşehir yerleşim alanında bulunan zeminlerin mühendislik özelliklerinin belirlenmesi ve jeoteknik haritalarının Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri kullanılarak hazırlanması amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma Nevşehir yerleşim alanının kuzeyinde, yaklaşık 10 km2'lik bir alanda uygulanmış olup, 1/100.000 - 1/25.000'lik jeoloji haritası, 1/1.000 - 1/2.000 - 1/25.000'lik sayısallaştırılmış topografik haritalar, önceki çalışmalar, saha ve laboratuvar verilerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bu tez çalışmasında, sondaj verileri ile jeofizik çalışmalardan elde edilen veriler ışığında zeminlerin mühendislik özellikleri belirlenmiş ve Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemleri altında bir veri tabanı oluşturmak suretiyle farklı türde jeoteknik haritalar hazırlanılmıştır. Bu kapsamda; Sayısal Yükseklik modeli, Eğim, Standart Penetrasyon Deneyi (SPT), Kayma Dalga Hızı (Vs30), Zemin Hakim Titreşim Periyodu (T0), Zemin Büyütmesi ve Zemin Sınıflamasına yönelik ileriki yıllarda kullanılmak üzere yerel yönetim ve uygulayıcılara altlık oluşturması amacıyla farklı türde zon haritaları üretilmiştir.
Our country is prone to natural disasters due to its geographical and geomorphological position. It is very important to determine the regions that are safe and risky in terms of soil characteristics during the planning of settlements in our country where natural disasters cause loss of life and property. Various techniques are used to evaluate the variations in the region from the point of engineering. Among these techniques, Geographic Information System is advantageous over other techniques with respect to cost, visuality and ease of operation. The geological basement of the Nevşehir region is the Paleozoic-Mesozoic aged Ortaköy granitoids of the Kırşehir massif. Tuzköy, Yüksekli and Ürgüp Formations, which are the products of intense terrestrial volcanism that erupted in Middle-Upper Miocene and continued in Quaternary, are located in the region. Beside these units, volcanoclastic rocks overlay all these units and present a wide exposure in the region. The aim of this study is to determine the engineering properties of soils in the Nevsehir residential area and to prepare the geotechnical maps using Geographical Information Systems. The study was carried out in an area of approximately 10 km2 in the north of the settlement area of Nevsehir. Geological maps of 1/100.000-1/25.000 scale as well as 1/1.000-1/2.000-1/25.000 scale digitized topographical maps, previous studies, field and laboratory data were employed as study material. In this thesis, the engineering properties of soils were determined in accordance with the data obtained from boreholes and geophysical studies and different types of geotechnical maps were prepared by creating a database under Geographical Information Systems. In this context; different types of zonation maps were produced such as Digital Elevation Model, Slope, Standard Penetration Test (SPT), Shear Wave Velocity (Vs30), Ground Vibration Period (T0), Soil Amplification and Soil Classification for the local authorities and practitioners to be used in the future.
