Diabetus mellituslu bireylerin geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tedavi uygulamaları kullanma durumları

Abstract

Tanımlayıcı tipte olan bu araştırma diabetus mellitus’lu hastaların geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tedavi uygulamaları kullanma durumlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı.Araştırma dahiliye polikliniğine başvuran diabetus mellitus’lu hastalarla yapıldı. Araştırma örneklemini Ocak-Şubat 2013 tarihleri arasında İç Anadolu Bölgesinde bir Devlet Hastanesi dahiliye polikliniğine başvuran 152 diabetus mellitus tanısı olan hasta oluşturdu. Verilerin toplanmasında anket formu kullanıldı. Veriler Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 20.0 paket programı ile sayı-yüzde ve ki-kare testi kullanılarak değerlendirildi. Çalışmada diabetus mellitus’lu hastaların %27.6’sının geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulamaları kullandığı, %20.4’sinin kullandığı geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulama yönteminin diyet desteği olduğu, % 78.5’inin kan şekeri ölçümlerinde kan şekerinin düştüğünü gözlemlediği, bulunmamıştır. Diabetus mellitus’lu hastalar geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulama yöntemi kullanmaktadır. Hastaların geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulama konusunda bilgilendirilmesi, sağlık personeline geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulama yöntemleri konusunda hizmet içi eğitimler verilmesi, bunun yanı sıra kullanılan geleneksel ve tamamlayıcı tıp uygulama yöntemlerinin kan glikoz düzeyi üzerine etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla ileri araştırmalar yapılması önerilebilir.

This descriptive study was carried out to explore the use of traditional and complementary medicine in patients with diabetes mellitus. The study was carried out with a sample of 152 patients who presented to the outpatient clinic for internal diseases at a State Hospital in the Central Anatolia Region between January -February 2013 and who were diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. The data collected using a questionnaire were analyzed with the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 20.0 package program employing numbers and percentages and the chi-square test. This study found that 27.6% of the patients with diabetes mellitus used traditional and complementary medicine, the traditional and complementary medicine used by 20.4% of them consisted of dietary support and the blood sugar level was observed to drop in 78.5% of them during their glucose measurements. Patients with diabetes mellitus use the traditional and complementary medicine method. We can suggest that patients should be informed about traditional and complementary medicine, health professionals should be provided in-service training on traditional and complementary medicine methods and further research should be carried out to investigate the effect of traditional and complementary medicine methods used on the blood glucose levels.
