Memleket hikâyeleri ve Gurbet Hikâyeleri’nin Söz Varlığı

Abstract

Refik Halit Karay (1888-1965) is a master author who has given works in many fields of Turkish literature. This study examines the basic vocabulary of the author's stories. As the literary value of Karay's stories is considered higher than other genres and because of the new subject and language features he brought to the Turkish story, these works were preferred for the determination of the basic words, especially as he was famous as the “Memleket Hikâyeleri and Gurbet Hikâyeleri” in Turkish literature. With this study it is aimed to give information about the author's vocabulary by determining the basic vocabulary and to reveal the material and spiritual culture of the periods in which the stories were written. The study consists of three parts, except introduction and conclusion. In the first section, information is given about the presence of words and frequency studies. The second part contains the author's life, style, works and story summaries. The third section contains the frequency indexes of the basic vocabulary items. Prior to the creation of the index, the frequency of the words in these concept fields is also determined by the index program, which determined the concept areas of the stories within the basic vocabulary. Accordingly, the ratio of concept areas in stories is calculated with the data obtained. By collecting the frequency ratios of the basic word presence elements in each story according to the concept areas, the basic word presence ratios of each book are reached. The data is tabulated. İn the conclusion the stories are first compared the conclusion section are compared among their own. Later, the books is compared in the light of numerical data. In both works of the author, it was found that the basic word presence elements are approximately %50. The numerical values of words in the field of concept in the works are found to be related to the length-brevity and context of the stories.

Refik Halit Karay (1888-1965), Türk edebiyatının birçok alanında eser vermiş usta bir yazardır. Bu çalışmada yazarın hikâyelerinin temel söz varlığı incelenmiştir. Türk edebiyatında özellikle “Memleket Hikâyeleri ve Gurbet Hikâyeleri yazarı” olarak ünlenen Karay’ın hikâyelerinin edebî değeri diğer türlere göre daha yüksek kabul edildiğinden ve Türk hikâyesine getirdiği yeni konu ve dil özellikleri nedeniyle temel söz varlığı tespiti için bu eserler tercih edilmiştir. Temel söz varlığının belirlenmesiyle yazarın söz varlığı hakkında bilgiler vermek, hikâyelerin yazıldığı dönemlerin maddi ve manevi kültürünü ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde söz varlığı ile sıklık çalışmaları hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde yazarın hayatı, üslubu, eserleri ve hikâye özetleri yer almaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde temel söz varlığı ögelerinin sıklık dizinleri yer almaktadır. Dizin oluşturulmadan önce hikâyelerin temel söz varlığı içerisinde yer alan kavram alanları belirlenmiş dizin programı sayesinde bu kavram alanlarında yer alan kelimelerin sıklıkları da tespit edilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda elde edilen verilerle kavram alanlarının hikâyelerdeki oranları hesaplanmıştır. Her hikâyenin içindeki temel söz varlığı ögelerinin kavram alanlarına göre sıklık oranlarının toplanmasıyla her kitabın temel söz varlığı oranlarına ulaşılmıştır. Veriler tablo hâline getirilmiştir. Sonuç bölümünde önce hikâyeler kendi arasında karşılaştırılmıştır. Daha sonra kitapların sayısal veriler ışığında karşılaştırılması yapılmıştır. Yazarın her iki eserinde de temel söz varlığı ögelerinin yaklaşık %50 oranında olduğu görülmüştür. Eserlerdeki kavram alanında yer alan sözcüklerin sayısal değerleri hikâyelerin uzunluk-kısalık ve bağlamla ilişkili olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Hikâyelerin temel söz varlığının belirlenmesiyle yazıldığı dönemin maddi ve manevi kültürü ortaya çıkarılmıştır.
