The 14 pyroclastic rock samples were taken from 6 different locations in Cappadocia Region and a series of laboratory works were carried out to determine the microstructural and geomechanical properties of the pyroclastic rocks. The effects of microstructural features on geomechanical properties of pyroclastic rocks which are widely observed in Cappadocia Region were investigated in this study. Microstructural parameters such as texture, welding degree, component ratio, shape parameters of components have been determined in this scope. According to this, geomechanical properties of ignimbrites are extremely controlled by texture and total crystal ratio, while the shape parameters have no effect on it. A combined microstructural index should be used by evaluating of microstructural effect on geomechanical properties instead of using a single microstructural parameter.
Kapadokya Bölgesinden 6 farklı lokasyondan toplam 14 adet piroklastik kayaç örneği
alınmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Kapadokya Bölgesinde geniş yayılım sunan piroklastik
kayaçların sahip oldukları mikro-yapısal özelliklerin jeomekanik özellikler üzerine olan
etkileri araştırılmıştır. Söz konusu örneklerin mikro-yapısal ve jeomekanik özelliklerini
belirlemek amacıyla, bir dizi laboratuvar çalışması yapılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, doku
şekli, kaynaşma derecesi, bileşen oranı ve bileşen şekil parametreleri gibi mikro-yapısal
parametreler belirlenmiştir. Buna göre, dokusal ve toplam kristal oranı gibi mikroyapısal parametreler dayanım üzerinde oldukça etkili olurken, şekil parametrelerinin
dayanım üzerinde önemli bir etkisinin olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Mikro-yapı ile dayanım
arasındaki ilişkinin tek bir mikroyapısal parametre üzerinden değil de tamamını
kapsayacak genel bir mikro-yapısal indeks yaklaşımıyla değerlendirmenin daha doğru
olacağı düşünülmektedir.
