Abstract:
Fossil-based energy sources cause air pollution,
climate change and also it is known that fossil energy sources
are not sustainable. Therefore, researchers focus on
investigation of alternative energy sources for electricity
generation. There are lots of alternative energy sources such as
hydrogen, hydropower, biomass, solar, wind, geothermal and
etc. The solar energy is the most popular among others. This
paper deals with design of micro inverter at 390 Wp rated
power. It is comprised by flyback converter and H5 inverter
topologies. The flyback converter which provides galvanic
isolation is controlled with Maximum Power Point Tracking
(MPPT) algorithm while the inverter stage is controlled by
sinusoidal pulse width modulator (SPWM) with PI controller.
The designed micro inverter is analyzed with MATLAB
Simulink software under changing irradiation conditions and it
is observed that the designed micro inverter copes with partial
shading condition. The input voltage that is maximum 54 V
supplied by PV module is set constant at 220 Vrms ac at the
output. Total harmonic distortion (THD) ratios of output
voltage and current are measured at 2.59% with 94.08%
efficiency of micro inverter.
