Bahariyye-i Edebiyat Mecmuasının çeviri yazısı ve edebî metinlerinin incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma Osmanlı Türk basınının üzerinde neredeyse hiç durulmayan süreli yayınlarından biri olan Bahariyye-i Edebiyat ve Mütenevvia-i Ulûm ve Hikâyat-ı Mudhikât başlıklı mecmua hakkındadır. 19. yüzyıl Türk tiyatrosunun ve tiyatroculuğunun önemli isimlerinden Mehmet Hilmi tarafından İstanbul'da farklı aralıklarla çıkarılan bu mecmua, 1879 yılında yayın hayatına başlamış ve 1881 yılına kadar 29 sayı çıkarılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın öncelikli amacı Bahariyye-i Edebiyat'ın çeviri yazısının yapılarak derginin Türk basın hayatındaki yerinin tespit edilmesinde bir adım atmaktır. Bu doğrultuda öncelikle mecmuanın çeviri yazı yapılmış ve yazıların sistematik bir indeksi hazırlanmıştır. Yazılar türlerine göre ayrılmış böylece dönemin basın dünyasının dinamikleri sergilenmiştir. Mehmed Hilmi'nin bu mecmuada coğrafyadan tarihe ve iktisada, folklordan edebiyata ve özellikle tiyatroya çok geniş bir konu yelpazesi olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Söz konusu yayın organının başlıkta bir edebiyat risalesi olarak tanıtılmasına rağmen içerisinde çok az sayıda edebî eserin olduğu görülmüştür. Bu durumun dönemin ansiklopedist tavrının basına yansıması olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Yazarın böyle bir tavır sergileyerek halka başta Avrupa olmak üzere gerek dünya coğrafyası hakkında gerekse modern bir dünyada işine yarayacağını düşündüğü bilgileri sunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu açıdan mecmua II. Abdülhamit dönemi basınının genel manzarasını yansıtır bir boyutta siyasetten ve toplumun genel sorunlarından uzak bir süreli yayın görünümündedir.

This study is about the journal titled Bahariyye-i Edebiyat ve Mütenevvia-i Ulûm ve Hikâyat-ı Mudhikât, which is one of the periodical publications of the Ottoman Turkish press that is almost never mentioned. This magazine, published at different intervals in Istanbul by Mehmet Hilmi, one of the important names of 19th century Turkish theater and theater, started its publication life in 1879 and 29 issues were published until 1881. The primary aim of this study is to take a step in determining the place of the journal in Turkish press life by making the translation of Bahariyye-i Edebiyat. In this direction, firstly, a transcription of the journal was made and a systematic index of the articles was prepared. The articles were separated according to their genres, thus the dynamics of the press world of the period were exhibited. It has been determined that Mehmed Hilmi has a wide range of topics from geography to history and economics, from folklore to literature and especially theater. Although the publication in question was introduced as a literary treatise in the title, it was seen that there were very few literary works in it. It was concluded that this situation was a reflection of the encyclopedist attitude of the period to the press. It has been determined that the author exhibits such an attitude and offers the public information about world geography, especially Europe, and which he thinks will be useful in a modern world. In this respect, the journal reflects the general view of the press of the period of Sultan II. Abdülhamit, and looks like a periodical away from politics and the general problems of the society.
