Northrop Frye’ın mit sistematiğine göre Eylül romanının incelenmesi

Abstract

Servet-i Fünûn döneminin önde gelen isimlerinden biri olan Mehmet Rauf; hikâye, roman ve oyun türünde eserler vermiş, düzyazı şiirler kaleme almıştır. Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil tarafından Hizmet’te yayınlanan “Düşmüş” adlı hikâyesiyle edebiyat âleminde tanınan Mehmet Rauf’un en bilinen eseri Eylül’dür. Mehmet Rauf’un aşkı merkeze alan romanlarından biri olan Eylül, psikolojik çözümlemelerin yapıldığı ve metnin sistematiğinin mevsim döngüsü üzerinden takip edilebildiği bir eserdir. Edebî türleri mitle ilişkilendiren; komedya, romans, tragedya ve taşlama şeklinde sıralanan dört temel türün mit olduğunu belirten Northrop Frye, mitoloji kaynaklı bir bakış açısına sahip öncü bir isimdir. Eleştirinin Anatomisi adlı eserinde; komedi ilkbaharı, romans yazı, tragedya sonbaharı, ironi ve hiciv kışı temsil eder. Döngü içerisinde yer alan mevsimler aynı zamanda doğum, zafer, tecrit ve kahramanın yenilgisi şeklindeki aşamaları da karşılar. Frye’ın sistematiğini oluşturduğu ve mevsim döngüsünü esas aldığı metin tertibi şeması, Mehmet Rauf’un Eylül adlı eserine de uygulanabilmektedir. Bu çalışmada, söz konusu mit sistematiği esere uygulanmış ve elde edilen bilgiler aktarılmıştır.

Mehmet Rauf who was one of the foremost names of the Servet-i Fünûn period; produced works in the genre of stories, novels and plays, and wrote prose poems. Mehmet Rauf who has been introduced to the literary world with his story “Düşmüş” published by Halit Ziya Uşaklıgil in Hizmet, and Eylül, was his best-known work. As being one of Mehmet Rauf's novels focusing on love topic, Eylül is a work in which psychological analyzes are made and the systematic of the text can be followed through the seasonal cycle. Northrop Frye who associates literary genres with myth and claims that there are four basic genres exist as comedy, romance, tragedy and stoning are myths is a pioneer name with a mythology-based perspective. In his work titled Anatomy of Criticism; represents comedy the spring, romance the summer, tragedy the autumn, irony and satire the winter. The seasons in the cycle also meet the stages of birth, victory, isolation, and defeat of the hero. The scheme of text layout, which has been formed by Frye in terms of the systematic and based on the seasonal cycle, can also be applied to Mehmet Rauf's work titled Eylül. In this study, the myth systematic was applied to the work and the information obtained was transferred.
