Kapadokya Bölgesi’nde yerel paydaşların ekoturizme yönelik görüşleri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Dünya Kültür Mirasları listesinde yer alan ve doğal turistik çekiciliğe sahip Kapadokya Bölgesi’nde gerçekleştirilen ekoturizm faaliyetlerinin Nevşehir ilinde bulunan yerel paydaşların perspektifinden değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nitel (kalitatif) araştırma yöntemi ve keşifsel araştırma tasarımından yararlanılmıştır. Veriler, Nevşehir’de bulunan yerel paydaşlarla yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat tekniğiyle toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonunda elde edilen veriler betimsel analiz yöntemiyle analiz edilmiştir. Gerçekleştirilen görüşmeler sonucunda, Kapadokya Bölgesi’nin doğal turistik alanlarının ekoturizm için elverişli olduğu ancak sahip olunan bu potansiyele sürdürülebilirlik bilinciyle yaklaşılmadığı, ekoturizm kapsamında gereken plan ve politikaların yeterince uygulanmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Kapadokya bölgesinin ekoturizm potansiyelinden maksimum düzeyde faydalanabilmek için, yerel halkın ve paydaşların ekoturizm konusunda bilinçlendirilmesi ve alternatif turizm arzı oluşturma yönünde daha gerçekçi ve rasyonel planların hayata geçirilmesi gerekmektedir. Aynı zamanda, sürdürülebilir turizm bilincinin oluşmasıyla birlikte bölge genelinde ekoturizmin geleceği açısından daha olumlu gelişmelerin yaşanabileceği belirtilmektedir. Ayrıca, bölgeye yönelik turizm talebini arttırmak ve bölgesel kalkınmayı desteklemek amacı ile tüm kurum, kuruluş ve paydaşların dahil olacağı proje ve faaliyetlerin hayata geçirilmesinin önemine vurgu yapılmaktadır.

This research aims to evaluate the ecotourism activities and ecotourism potential of the Cappadocia Region, which is included in the world cultural heritage list with natural touristic attraction, from the perspectives of local stakeholders residing in Nevşehir province. Qualitative research methods and exploratory research design were used in the research. The data were collected using a semi-structured interview technique with local stakeholders in Nevşehir. At the end of the research, the obtained data was analyzed by descriptive analysis method. As a result of the interviews, it was concluded that the natural touristic areas of the Cappadocia Region are suitable for ecotourism, however, this potential is not approached with sustainability awareness, and the plans and policies required within the scope of ecotourism are not adequately implemented. In order to benefit from the ecotourism potential of the Cappadocia region at an maximal level, it is necessary to raise the awareness of local people and stakeholders about ecotourism and to implement more realistic and rational plans to create an alternative tourism supply. At the same time, it is stated that with the formation of sustainable tourism awareness, more positive developments can be experienced in terms of the future of ecotourism in the region. In addition, the importance of implementing projects and activities in which all institutions, organizations, and stakeholders will be involved is emphasized in order to increase the demand for tourism in the region and support regional development.
