Bu araştırma yaygın anksiyete bozukluğu olan ergenlerin anne ve baba tutumlarını incelemek amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Erciyes Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi Çocuk ve Ergen Ruh Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları Polikliniği'ne başvuran ergenler oluşturmaktadır, örneklemi ise çalışmaya katılmayı kabul eden 196 ergen oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veriler, Bilgi Formu ve Anne-Baba Tutum Ölçeği kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin değerlendirilmesinde Ki-Kare testleri (Fisher Exact Chi Square, Yates Ki-kare, Pearson Ki Kare) testlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan çocuk ve ergenlerin 98'i (%50) kız, 98'i (%50) erkektir. Katılımcıların 38'i (%19,4) 14 yaşında, 126'sı (%64,3) 15-17 yaş aralığında ve 32'si (%16,3) 18 yaşındadır. Çalışmaya katılan kişilerin 183 tanesi (%93,4) halen okula devam etmekteyken 13 tanesi (%6,6) okulu bırakmıştır. Ergenlerin 123'ü (%62,8) çekirdek aile yapısına, 55'i (%28,0) geniş aile yapısına ve 18'i (%9,2) parçalanmış aile yapısına sahiptir. Çalışmaya katılan kişilerin 22'si (%11,2) 1 yıldır, 173'ü (%88,3) 2-5 yıldır ve 1'i (%0,5) 6 yıl ve daha uzun süredir yaygın anksiyete bozukluğuna sahip olduğunu ifade etmiştir. Çalışmaya katılan ergenlerin annelerinin %54,1'i demokratik tutum sergilerken %45,9'u otoriter tutum sergilemektedir. Ergenlerin babalarının ise %42,3'ü demokratik tutum sergilerken, %57,7'si otoriter tutum sergilemektedir. Çalışmamızın sonucuna göre annelerin daha çok demokratik tutum sergilediği, babaların ise daha çok otoriter tutum sergilediği görülmüştür. Okula devam etmeyen ergenlere bakıldığında büyük kısmının anne ve babasının otoriter bir tutum sergilediği görülmektedir. Okul performansının olumsuz etkilendiğini söyleyen ergenlerin babalarının daha çok otoriter tutum sergilediği görülmüştür. Anne tutumu ile istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunamamış olsa da okul performansının etkilendiğini söyleyen ergenlerin annelerinin de daha çok otoriter tutum sergilediği dikkat çekmiştir. Köy/kasabada yaşayan ailelerde daha çok otoriter tutum görülürken il merkezinde yaşayan ergenlerde demokratik tutuma sahip olan anne ve babaların oranının arttığı görülmüştür. Eğitim seviyesi düşük olan anne ve babaların otoriter tutum sergilerken, eğitim seviyesi yüksek ebeveynlerde demokratik tutum sergileme oranlarının da yükseldiği görülmüştür. Çekirdek aile yapısına sahip ergenlerin anne babaları daha çok demokratik tutum sergilerken geniş aile yapısına sahip olan ergenlerin anne babalarının daha çok otoriter tutum sergilediği görülmüştür. Demokratik anne ve baba tutumu sergileyen ebeveynlerin çocukları ruhsal durumunu iyi olarak değerlendirirken, otoriter anne ve baba tutumu sergileyen ebeveynlerin çocukları ise ruhsal durumunu daha kötü olarak değerlendirmektedir. Anne ve babası demokratik tutum sergileyen ergenlerin çoğu problemlerini anne ve babasıyla paylaşırken, anne ve babası otoriter tutum sergileyen ergenler problemlerini diğer kişilerle paylaşmaktadır. Demokratik anne ve baba tutumu sergileyen ebeveynlerin çocukları anne ve babalarıyla olan iletişimlerini iyi olarak değerlendirirken, otoriter anne ve baba tutumu sergileyen ebeveynlerin çocukları ise anne ve babalarıyla olan iletişimlerini daha kötü olarak değerlendirmektedir. Yaşam kalitesini iyi olarak değerlendiren ergenlerin anne ve babalarının demokratik tutum sergilediği, yaşam kalitesini daha kötü olarak değerlendiren ergenlerin anne ve babalarının daha çok otoriter tutum sergilediği görülmüştür. Demokratik anne ve baba tutumu sergileyen ebeveynlerin çocukları aile içindeki sorumluluklarının etkilenmediğini ifade ederken otoriter anne ve baba tutumu sergileyen ebeveynlerin çocukları aile içindeki sorumluluklarının kötü olarak etkilendiğini ifade etmiştir. Araştırmamızın sonuçlarına göre; ebeveynlerin çocuklarına karşı ilgili ve anlayışlı olması, çocuklarının gelişim dönemlerinin özelliklerine göre davranması, çocuk yetiştirme ve hastalık özellikle de ruhsal hastalığa sahip çocuklara olması gereken tutumun çocukların ruhsal gelişimi açısından oldukça önemlidir. Bu yüzden anne ve babaların sergilediği yanlış tutumlar tespit edilmeli, anne ve babalar bu konularda uyarılmalı ve uzman kişiler tarafından eğitimler düzenlenmelidir.
This descriptive study was conducted to investigate the parental attitudes of the mothers and fathers of adolescents with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). The study population consisted of the adolescents who were admitted to Erciyes University Medical Faculty Hospital's Outpatient Clinic of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The study sample included 196 adolescents who agreed to participate in the study. The data were collected using a demographic information form and the Parental Attitude Scale (PAS). The data were analyzed using Fisher's exact test, Yates' chi-square test and Pearson's chi-squared test. Of the participants, 98 (50%) were female, and 98 (50%) were male. Of them, 38 (19.4%) were 14 years old, 126 (64.3%) were between the ages of 15-17, and 32 (16.3%) were 18 years old. Of the participants, 183 (93.4%) were still attending school, and 13 (6.6%) had dropped out of school. Of the adolescents, 123 (62.8%) had nuclear families, 55 (28.0%) had extended families, and 18 (9.2%) had broken families. Of them, 22 (11.2%) had had GAD for 1 year, 173 (88.3%) for 2-5 years and 1 (0.5%) for 6 years or longer. Although 54.1% of the mothers of the adolescents had democratic attitudes, 45.9% had authoritarian attitudes. While 42.3% of the fathers had democratic attitudes, 57.7% had authoritarian attitudes. This study found that the mothers had more democratic attitudes, and that the fathers had more authoritarian attitudes. Most of the parents of the adolescents who were not attending school had authoritarian attitudes. The fathers of adolescents who said that their school performance was negatively affected had more authoritarian attitudes. Although there was no statistically significant relationship between the mothers' attitudes and school performance, the mothers of the adolescents who said that their school performance was affected had significantly more authoritarian attitudes. The parents who were living in villages and towns had more authoritarian parental attitudes; however, the rate of the parents who had democratic parental attitudes was high for those who resided in the city center. The parents who had low educational levels had authoritarian attitudes, and democratic attitudes were more common among those with high educational levels. The parents of the adolescents who had nuclear families had more democratic attitudes, and the parents of adolescents with extended families had more authoritarian attitudes. The adolescents whose parents had democratic parental attitudes said that their mental status was good; however, those whose parents had authoritarian parental attitudes reported that their mental status was worse. While most of the adolescents whose parents had democratic attitudes shared their problems with their parents, those whose parents had authoritarian attitudes shared their problems with other people. The adolescents whose parents had democratic parental attitudes said their communication with their parents was good; however, those whose parents had authoritarian parental attitudes said that their communication with their parents was not so good. The parents of the adolescents who thought that their quality of life was good had democratic parental attitudes, but the parents of the adolescents who thought that their quality of life was not as good had more authoritarian attitudes. The adolescents whose parents had democratic parental attitudes said that their family responsibilities were not affected; however, those whose parents had authoritarian parental attitudes said that their family responsibilities were negatively affected. The results of this study indicate that it is very important for parents to take an interest in and be understanding toward their children, and to treat them considering the characteristics of their developmental stages. The study also found that attitudes toward children who have an illness, especially a mental illness, are very important for their psychological development. Therefore, negative parental attitudes should be identified, parents should be warned about these issues, and training programs should be organized by experts in this field.
