Bu çalışmanın temel amacı otel yöneticilerinin otellerdeki etik politika ve yöntemler ile etik uygulamalar konusundaki görüş ve algılamalarını ortaya çıkarmaktır. Ayrıca, otel yöneticilerinin etik yöntem ve uygulamalar konusundaki rollerinin belirlenmesi de amaçlar arasında yer almaktadır. Araştırma için İstanbul'daki turizm işletme belgeli dört ve beş yıldızlı oteller seçilmiştir. Otel yöneticilerine kapalı uçlu sorulardan oluşan anket uygulanmıştır. Bulgular, otel işletmelerinin önemli bir bölümünün işletmelerine özgü yada başka işletmelere ait etik kodları kullandıklarını göstermektedir. Otel yöneticilerinin çoğu belirlenen değer yargılarının işletmelerinin yapısına uygun olduğunu bildirmişlerdir (4,17). Bununla birlikte analiz sonuçlarından otellerin etik yöntem ve uygulamalarında işletme türü ve sınıfları açısından görüş farklılıkları olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Otel yöneticileri etik uygulamaların etkinliğini (4,11) ve etik politika ve yöntemleri çalışanlarına bildirmeyi (4,02) önemli sorumlulukları arasında görmektedirler. Araştırmada parametrik olmayan ve birden fazla örnek değerin benzer yapıda olup olmadığını incelemek için uygulanan Kruskal-Wallis (KW) ile Mann Whitney-U testleri kullanılmıştır. Uygulanan testler sonucunda işletmelerin sınıf farklılıklarına rağmen otel yöneticilerinin etik değer yargılarına bakış açıları arasında önemli farklılıklar gözlemlenmemiştir. Yöneticilerin yöneticilik deneyimleri dikkate alındığında, etik politikaların uygulanması konusunda anlamlı farklılıklar bulunmamakla birlikte, eğitim düzeyleri açısından özellikle "etik politika ve yöntemlerin departmanın etiğe uygun davranış tarzını belirlemesi" konusunda görüş farklılıkları ortaya çıkmıştır.
The main goal of this research is to expose hotel manager’s opinions and attitudes about ethical policies and procedures and ethical applications in hotels. This study also aimed to define hotel manager’s roles about ethic, method and application. In this research 4- and 5-star
hotels were chosen in Istanbul, which had tourism operation certificates. A questionnaire with close-ended questions was applied to hotel
managers. According to the findings, most of the hotels use their own ethical codes or other administrative procedure on ethics. The majority of hotel managers reported that stated values are acceptable with mentality of administration. (4,17). However, it has been understood
from the results of analysis that hotels have differential aspects about ethical procedures and applications in terms of administration kind
and type. Hotel managers pointed out that “effectiveness of the ethic practices (4,11)” and “ communication to all employees effectively
about ethical policies and procedures (4,02)” were among their main duties. The Kruskal-Wallis (KW) and Mann Whitney-U tests were used
to examine whether nonparametric examples of the values more than one had the similar structure or not, in this research. The results of
the analysis showed that, it was not observed significant differences in the aspects of ethical attitudes of the hotel managers despite the
class distinctions between hotels. In the aspects of experiences of the managers there were no signicant differences in the application of
the ethical policies, however it was found significant differences in “the ethical policies” and “the methods which determine the appropriate
ethical behaviors in the departments” in terms of educational levels
