Her insan dünyaya geldiğinde dil yetisine sahiptir ve bu dil yetisiyle ana dilini edinir. Çevresindeki dünyayı algılamaya başladığı andan itibaren başta annesi olmak üzere çevresinden ana dilini öğrenmeye başlar. Bu öğrenme gerek okulda gerekse okul dışında hayat boyu devam eder. Türk eğitim sisteminde, ana dili olarak Türkçenin eğitimi ilköğretimin birinci kademesinde başlayıp üniversite eğitimi sürecine kadar devam etmektedir. Bu sürecin son basamağı olan üniversitelerde Türkçe eğitimi, Türk dili ve edebiyatı bölümleri dışındaki tüm bölümlerde ortak zorunlu “Türk Dili” adıyla verilmektedir. Bu dersin üniversitelerde okutulmaya başlamasından bugüne kadar dersin önemi veya gerekliliği daima tartışılmıştır. Son dönemlerde ise artık dersin kaldırılması planlanmaktadır. Üniversitelerde okutulan ortak zorunlu “Türk Dili” dersinin uygulanmasında önemli sorunlar yaşanmaktadır. Bu dersle ilgili; dersin adı, okutmanlık mesleğinin özlük hakları, fizikî şartların yetersizliği, bürokratik sıkıntılar, müfredat, eğitim ve öğretim malzemesi ve öğrenciden kaynaklanan birçok sorun bulunmaktadır. Ancak bu dersle ilgili temel sorun, “Türkçe ana dili bilinci”nin çocuklara kazandırılamamış olmasıdır. Bu bilinçten yoksun bırakılan Türk gençleri, ana dilleri olan Türkçe konusunda “olumsuz tutum” sahibi olmaktadırlar. Bu çalışmada, üniversite öğrencilerinin Türkçe ile ilgili tutumlarını ölçmek amacıyla birinci sınıf öğrencilerine uygulanan sormaca (anket) ile bu öğrencilerin ana dillerine karşı olan tutumları tespit edilmiş ve Türklük biliminde genel kabul görmüş doğrular dışındaki bilgiler “olumsuz tutum” olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bu “ana dili tutum ölçeği” aracılığıyla “Türkçe, Türk dili” eğitiminin nasıl olması gerektiği belirtilmiştir.
Everyone has linguistic competence as soon as the birth and with
this competence he gets his mother tongue. Since he perceives the
world, he goes ahead learning his native language first from his mother and the environs. The learning process goes on both at school and life
long other than school. In Turkish education system, Turkish language
education as a native language starts at primary education and
continues until university process. Turkish language is taught in the
name of compulsory ‘Turkish Language’ at all departments except
Turkish Language and Literature Departments. The importance and the
necessity of the lesson have always been contentious question. Latterly,
the elimination of the lesson has been planned.
There are considerable problems in Turkish language lessons
taught in the universities. There are many problems in this lesson such
as the name of the lesson, employee rights of lecturers, the inadequacy
of physical capacity, bureaucratic annoyence, curriculum, education
materials and the problems on account of the students. However, the
main problem of this lesson is the students’ ‘lack of conciousness of
their native language’. Deprived of this conciousness, Turkish youth
has a ‘negative attitude’ on their mother tongue, Turkish language. In
this study, with the aim of evaluating the university students’ attitudes,
students’ attitudes are ascertained. The survey was applied to the first
class students and the information except the accuracy found
acceptance in Turkish science is assessed as ‘negative attitude’.
Throught the ‘Native Language Attitude Scale’ how Turkish language
education should be is specified.
