Bu çalışmada Türkiye’deki kültürel çeşitliliğinin üç simgesi (başörtüsü, Kürtçe, cemevi) ile üç kategorisine (dinsel çeşitlilik, etnik-dilsel çeşitlilik, mezhep çeşitliliği) ilişkin tutumları ölçmek amacıyla kullanılabilecek üç farklı Likert Tipi Tutum Ölçeği geliştirilmiştir. Veriler 550 polis adayından oluşan bir çalışma grubundan elde edilmiştir. Geçerlik çalışmaları kapsamında faktör analizi yapılmış, ayrıca her bir ifade için üst ve alt gruplardaki cevaplayıcıların ifade puanları ortalamaları arasındaki fakın manidarlığı t testi kullanılarak sınanmıştır. Her bir ifade için ifade-ölçek korelasyonları da r testi yapılarak incelenmiştir. Ölçeklerin güvenirlik düzeylerini tespit etmek için ise Cronbach alpha katsayısı hesaplanmıştır. Geliştirilen bu tutum ölçekleri sadece polislerin ya da polis adaylarının değil, devletin diğer memurlarının ve vatandaşlarının da ilgili konulardaki tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla kullanılabilir. Nihayetinde bu tutum ölçekleriyle elde edilecek veriler sayesinde devletin meşruiyetine katkı getirecek nitelikte kamu politikaları üretilebilir. Çünkü kültürel açıdan çeşitliliğe sahip olan ulus-devletlerin meşruiyetlerinin değerlendirilmesinde bünyelerindeki kültürel çeşitliliğe yönelik yaklaşımları günümüzde önemli bir ölçüt haline gelmiştir.
In this study, three different Likert-type attitude scales have been developed for the aim of measuring the attitude towards the three symbol (headscarf, Kurdish, cemevi) and three category (religious diversity, ethnical-linguistic diversity, sectarian diversity) of cultural diversity in Turkey. The data has been obtained from the study group of 550 candidate police officers. Factor analysis has been carried out in the scope of validity studies. Moreover, the level of significance between the average points of the each item has been tested by using t-test. The item-scale correlations for each item have been analysed by using r test. For testing the level of reliability of the scales, Cronbach Alpha coefficient has been calculated. These attitude scales can be used not only for police officers or candidate police officers, but also the other officers of the state or citizens for the aim of determining the attitudes towards the above-mentioned topics. Eventually, with the help of the data collected with these scales, public policies contributing the legitimacy of the state can be developed, because the treatments of the states towards their cultural diversity have been an important criterion on the evaluation of the legitimacy of these nation states.
