Finansal gelişme ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyi inceleyen birçok çalışma yapılmış olmakta ve bu konuda genel kabul görmüş kanı ise iyi işleyen bir finansal yapının ekonomik büyümeyi olumlu yönde etkileyeceğidir. Finansal gelişme ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki ağırlıklı olarak finansal gelişme literatürü içinde yer alan bankacılık sektörü üzerinden incelenmiş, hisse senedi piyasası bu konuda geri planda kalmıştır. Çünkü hisse senedi piyasası bankacılık sektörüne göre genç bir oluşumdur. Son dönemlerde yapılan çalışmalarda finansal gelişme literatürü içinde yer alan hisse senedi piyasası ile ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi ön plana çıkmaktadır. Genel olarak ise hisse senedi piyasasının reel ekonomiyi döviz kuru, GSYH, faiz oranı, enflasyon gibi çeşitli kanallar vasıtasıyla etkilediği kabul edilmektedir. Bu tez, 1989-2017 yılları verilerini kullanarak Türkiye için hisse senedi piyasası ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu amaca yönelik olarak emek, sermaye, hisse senedi piyasası devir hızı, hisse senedi piyasası işlem hacmi ve GSYH değişkenlerini içeren modeller oluşturulmuştur. Birim kök testi için ADF uygulandıktan sonra çalışmaya ARDL Sınır Testi uygulanmıştır. Bu çalışma için değişkenler arasında eşbütünleşme ilişkisi tespit edildikten sonra ARDL modelinin yardımıyla katsayı tahminleri yapılmıştır. Bu tahminlere göre hisse senedi piyasası uzun dönemde ekonomik büyümeyi artırırken kısa dönemde herhangi bir katkı sağlamamaktadır.
Many studies have been conducted examining the relationship between financial development and economic growth, and generally accepted evidence is that a well-functioning financial structure will have a positive impact on economic growth. The relationship between financial development and economic growth has been examined through the banking sector, which is mainly included in the financial development literature, and the stock market has been in the background. Because the stock market is a young formation according to the banking sector. In the recent studies, the relationship between the stock market and economic growth in the financial development literature comes to the fore. It is generally accepted that the stock market affects the real economy through various channels such as exchange rate, GDP, interest rate and inflation. This thesis, using data from the years 1989-2017 with the stock market for Turkey aims to examine the relationship between economic growth. For this purpose, models including labor, capital, stock market turnover, stock market transaction volume and GDP variables were created. After the ADF was applied for unit root test, ARDL Bound Test was applied to the study. After the cointegration relationship between the variables was determined for this study, coefficient estimations were made with the help of ARDL model. According to these estimates, while the stock market has increased economic growth in the long term, it does not make any contribution in the short term.
