Geçmişi çok eskilere dayanan kadına yönelik şiddet, tüm dünya ve Türkiye'de önüne geçilemeyen, hiçbir sınır, ırk, toplum ya da kültür tanımayan sosyal bir sorundur. Her geçen gün sayısı ve sıklığı artan kadına şiddet olayları hem kadın hem aile hem de toplum huzuru bakımından büyük risk taşımaktadır. Bu yüksek lisans tezi Nevşehir'de yaşayan kadınların kadına yönelik şiddet algısı, tutum ve davranışlarını tespit etmek, kadının maruz kaldığı bu şiddetin yaş, eğitim, gelir düzeyi gibi demografik verilere göre değişip değişmediğini anlamak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, ilk önce dünyada ve Türkiye'de yaşanan kadına şiddet olayları ile ilgili literatür çalışması yapılmıştır. Nevşehir'de yaşayan 16-84 yaş arası 381 kadın katılımcıya, kadına yönelik şiddet algılarını tespit amacıyla anket uygulanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; araştırmaya katılan kadınların %36,4'ü hayatının bir döneminde şiddete maruz kaldığını belirtmiştir. Şiddete maruz kalan kadınlara uğradığı şiddet türü sorulduğunda daha fazla kadın soruyu cevaplamıştır. Bu bulgu şiddete uğrayan kadınların şiddet türlerinden haberdar olduğunu ve bunları şiddet olarak algıladıklarını, fakat kendi yaşadıkları şiddet olaylarında çoğunlukla fiziksel olan şiddeti fark ettiklerini düşündürmektedir. Kadınların eğitimi, yaşı ya da sosyoekonomik durumu fark etmeksizin her türlü şiddete maruz kalabildiği, büyük çoğunluğunun kadına yönelik şiddeti onaylamayan tutum ve değer yargılarına sahip olduğu görülmüştür; ancak eğitimli ve sosyoekonomik bakımdan güçlü, genç yaş gurubu kadınlarda bu oran daha yüksektir. Toplumun temel yapı taşı olan ailenin, sağlığı ve huzuru için yaygınlığı ve sıklığı her geçen gün artan kadına yönelik şiddet olaylarının durması gerekmektedir. Bu nedenle şiddete maruz kalan taraf olan kadınların şiddet karşısındaki tutumları büyük önem taşımaktadır. Kadınların, kadına yönelik şiddete karşı tutum ve değer yargılarının gelişmesi için eğitim seviyelerinin artması ve ekonomik bağımsızlıklarının sağlanması gerektiği sonucuna ulaşılmaktadır.
Violence against women that has been seen throughout history, is a problem that cannot be solved all over the world and in Turkey. İt is a social problem with no boundaries of race, culture or society. Increasing number and frequency of violence against women carries a great risk for both women and family. This master's thesis was designed to determine the perceptions, attitudes and behaviors of women living in Nevşehir and to determine whether the violence experienced by women varies according to demographic data such as age, education and income level. In this study, first literature work about violence against women and the events in Turkey and the world was made. A questionnaire was applied to 381 female participants between the ages of 16-84 in Nevşehir to determine their perceptions of violence against women. According to the results of the research; 36.4% of the women who participated in the study stated that they were exposed to violence at some point in their lives. When women who were exposed to violence were asked about the type of violence they experienced, more women answered the question. This finding suggests that women who are exposed to violence are aware of the types of violence and perceive them as violence, but they are often aware of violence that is physical in their own violence. It is seen that women can be exposed to all kinds of violence regardless of their education, age or socioeconomic status, and that the majority of them have attitudes and value judgments that do not approve of violence against women; however, this ratio is higher among educated and socioeconomically strong young women. Violence against women, whose prevalence and frequency increase day by day has to stop for the health and well-being of the family, which is the basic building block of the society. Therefore, the attitudes of women against violence are of great importance. It was concluded that education levels and economic independence should be ensured for women to develop attitudes and value judgments against violence against women.
