Tarih boyunca Kurtarıcı tasavvurunun gücünden yararlanmak isteyen pek çok kişinin kendini "Kurtarıcı" ilan ettiği görülmüştür. Birçok siyasî oluşum, dinî/tasavvufî zümre ve mezhep mensupları bağlı olduğu topluluğun liderini Kurtarıcı olarak kabul etmişlerdir. Bu kurtarıcıların rakip olarak gördükleri mevcut iktidarlar, siyasal akımlar ve inanışlar da kötülüğün temsili halini almıştır. Böylece aralarında bir rekabet gelişmiştir. Bu güçlerin gayesi, karşılarındaki rakip oluşumları bertaraf edip kendilerini hâkim konuma yükseltmek olmuştur. Söz konusu durum çoğu dinde, inançta ve kültürde benzer nitelikler taşımaktadır. İslam kültüründe de benzer öğelerin olduğunu görmekteyiz. Bu çalışmada Kurtarıcı tasavvuru ve bu tasavvurun kahramanları olan Kurtarıcıların tarihsel süreç içerisinde hangi din ve kültürde görüldüğüne bakılmıştır. Tezimizin konusu itibariyle İslam kültüründe özellikle Kızılbaş toplumunda Şah İsmail ve Şahkulu örneğinde nasıl tezahür ettiği ve siyasallaştığı ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda İslam düşünce ve kültür tarihinde Mehdî tasavvurunun teşekkülündeki etkenlerin neler olduğu tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Mehdî tasavvurunun İslami fırkalardaki tezahürü dönemin kaynakları ışığında kapsamlı bir şekilde araştırılmıştır. Ayrıca Osmanlı Devleti'nde Mehdî tasavvurunun tarihsel arka planı ve Kızılbaş Mehdîliğinin teşekkülündeki etkenler etraflıca incelenmiştir. Şah İsmail'in ve Osmanlı sultanlarının birbirini bertaraf etmek, karizmalarını güçlendirmek için Mehdîliği siyasal bir güç olarak nasıl kullandıklarına da bakılmıştır. Nihayetinde ise tüm bu süreçler dikkate alınarak Mehdîliğin Şahkulu örneğinde vücut bulması irdelenmiştir. "Kurtarıcı tasavvuru" ilkin makro tarih metoduyla ele alınıp daha sonra mikro tarih metodu çerçevesinde Şahkulu örneği üzerinden Kızılbaş gruplarında yaptırım gücü aydınlatılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bunu yaparken Kurtarıcı tasavvurunun disipliner bir konu olduğu düşünüldüğü için konuya tematik olarak yaklaşılmıştır.
Throughout history, it has been seen that many people who want to benefit from the power of the Savior vision have declared themselves as "Saviors". Members of many political formations, religious/sufistic groups and sects have accepted the leader of the community to which they belong as the Savior. The current governments, political movements and beliefs, which these saviors see as rivals, have also become the representation of evil. Thus, a rivalry developed between them. The aim of these forces was to eliminate the rival formations against them and raise themselves to a dominant position. This situation has similar characteristics in most religions, beliefs and cultures. We see that there are similar elements in Islamic culture. In this study, the conception of the Savior and in which religion and culture the Saviors, who are the heroes of this vision, were seen in the historical process were examined. In terms of the subject of our thesis, it has been tried to reveal how it manifests and politicizes in the Islamic culture, especially in the Kizilbash society, in the example of Shah Ismail and Şahkulu. In this direction, it has been tried to determine the factors in the formation of the Mahdi imagination in the history of Islamic thought and culture. The manifestation of the concept of the Mahdi in Islamic sects has been extensively researched in the light of the sources of the period. In addition, the historical background of the Mahdi conception in the Ottoman Empire and the factors in the formation of the Kızılbaş Mahdism were examined in detail. It has also been looked at how Shah Ismail and the Ottoman sultans used Mahdism as a political force in order to eliminate each other and strengthen their charisma. Finally, taking into account all these processes, the embodiment of Mahdism in the example of Şahkulu has been examined. The "savior imagination" was first handled with the macro-history method, and then the power of sanction in the Kızılbaş groups was tried to be clarified through the example of Şahkulu within the framework of the micro-history method. While doing this, the subject has been approached thematically, since it is thought that the concept of savior is a disciplinary subject.
