Bu tez çalışması kapsamında çamur dezentegrasyonunda basit ve etkili bir kimyasal oksidasyon metodu olan ve nano boyuttaki demir (II, III) oksit kullanılanılan Modifiye Fenton prosesi ile atık aktif çamurun parçalanması incelenmiştir. Çalışmada Fenton prosesinin temel işletme parametreleri olan reaksiyon ortamının optimizasyon çalışmaları yapılmış ve pH = 3, katalist demir [Fe2,3+]= 8 g/kg TS ve hidrojen peroksit [H2O2]= 80 g/kg TS optimum koşullar olarak belirlenmiştir. Bu çalışmada zamana bağlı olarak optimize edilmiş bu şartlarda, çözünmüş fazdaki protein ve kimyasal oksijen ihtiyacı (KOİ) konsantrasyonlarının yükselişi de araştırılmıştır. Yapılan çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre çKOİ artışının sıfırıncı derece kinetik modeline ve çözünmüş protein artışının ise birinci derece kinetik modeline uyduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, nano boyuttaki demir (II, III) oksit dozunu demir kaynağı olarak Fenton prosesinde atık aktif çamurun parçalanması için kullanılabilir olduğu belirlenmiştir.
Within the scope of this thesis, the disintegration of waste activated sludge by the modified Fenton process, which is a simple and effective chemical oxidation method in sludge disintegration and using nano-sized iron (II, III) oxide, was investigated. In the study, optimization studies of the reaction medium, which are the basic operating parameters of the Fenton process, were carried out and optimum conditions were determined as pH = 3, catalyst iron [Fe2,3+]= 8 g/kg TS and hydrogen peroxide [H2O2]= 80 g/kg TS. In this study, the rise of protein and chemical oxygen demand (COD) concentrations in the dissolved phase was also investigated under these time-optimized conditions. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the increase in soluble COD fits the zero-order kinetic model and the increase in dissolved protein fits the first-order kinetic model. As a result, it was determined that nano-sized iron (II, III) oxide dose can be used as an iron source for the degradation of waste activated sludge in the Fenton process.
