Mağara resimleri ile başlayan iletişim kurma ihtiyaçları zamana-mekâna göre ve çağın getirdiklerinden etkilenerek gelişir, değişir ve iletişimin kurulması için harflere, rakamlara ve sembollere dönüşür. Az sayıda insanda bulunan yazılı kaynaklar, teknolojinin etkisi ile daha kolay üretilebilir hale gelir, el yazması eserlerin uzun zaman süren hazırlık aşaması minimuma indirgenir ve seri üretim Gutenberg’in hareketli matbaayı bulması ile hayatımıza girer. Teknolojideki bu gelişmeler ve kalite standartlarının yükselmesi, insanları yeni sanat arayışlarına yöneltir.
Tipografi, görsel iletişim tasarımı içerisinde anlamı güçlendiren, mesajın kaynağa ulaşmasını sağlayan önemli bir araçtır. Bu bağlamda baktığımızda geçerlilikleri hala devam etmekte olan “Yeni Tipografi” düşüncesi iyi anlaşılmalıdır. Savunduğu düşüncenin sadeliği, tırnaksız yazı tipi seçimi ve asimetrik tipografi ile net ve anlaşılır tasarımların olması, iletişim için yapılan tipografi ile bu tasarım fikrinin savunucusu ve hareketin öncüsü olan Jan Tschichold ve Yeni Tipografi anlayışını, tipografiye sağladığı önemli gelişmeleri ve yenilikleri tanımak, günümüz tipografisini ve dijital dünyanın tipografiye yaklaşımını anlayabilmek açısından önem arz etmektedir. Bu amaçla makalede nitel araştırma yönteminden faydalanılıp, literatür taraması yapılarak çalışma gerçekleştirilmiştir.
The need for communication which has started with the cave paintings evolves according to the time-space and the age of the era and is evolved and transformed into letters, numbers and symbols for the establishment of communication. Written sources owned by a small number of people became easier to produce with the technology. The long-term preparation of the manuscript works is reduced to minimum and the mass production effects our lives with the Gutenberg’s printing press. These developments in technology and the rise of quality standards lead people to the search for new art.
Typography is an important tool that enhances meaning within visual communication design and enables the message to reach the source. In this context, the idea of “New Typography ” which is still valid, should be well understood. İt’s important to recognize the Jan Tschichold, who is the pioneer of the idea of new typography and the movement and getting to know the basics of new typography and understanding the important developments and innovations that provides to typography and it is important to understand today's typography and the approach of digital world to typography.
For this purpose, qualitative research method was used in the article and a literature review was conducted.
