Toplumun tüm fertlerinin kaliteli öğretmenlere ulaşması öğretmenlere gereken önemin verilmesi noktasında anlam kazanır. Mesleğe yeni başlayan öğretmenler tecrübesizliklerinden ötürü öğrencilerin gelişimini olumsuz yönde etkileyebilmektedir. Mentörler yoluyla gerçekleştirilen mesleğe giriş eğitimi mesleğe yeni başlayan öğretmenlerin mesleki becerilerini arttırma konusunda etkili bir yol olabilir. Bu araştırma 8 ilkokul müdürünün ve 8 ilkokul öğretmenin mentörlük ve mesleğe giriş eğitimi ile ilgili görüşlerine ulaşmayı amaçlar. Dolayısıyla bu araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden biri olan olgubilim desenine göre yapılandırılmıştır. Yarı- yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği ile toplanan veriler betimsel analiz tekniği ile 6 tema haline dönüştürülerek sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır. Sonuç olarak mesleğe yeni başlayan öğretmenler için mesleğe giriş eğitimi önemlidir. Uygulanacak eğitimin etkililiği önemli ölçüde öğretmenlerin üniversiteye seçilip ve yetiştirilmesiyle ilintilidir. Mesleğe giriş eğitiminin ana aktörleri olan mentörlerin etkili insan ilişkileri ve iletişim becerilerine sahip olması, etik değerlere sahip olması, rol-model olması, vizyon sahibi olması gibi yeterliliklere sahip olması beklenmektedir. Mesleğe giriş eğitiminin içeriği sınıf yönetimi, öğrencileri tanıma, velilerle iletişim, yönetimle ilişkiler gibi konular üzerinedir. Son olarak, mentörlerin eğitimi devam etmelidir, mesleğe giriş eğitimi denetim ve değerlendirilmelerden geçirilerek gerekli geribildirimler mesleğe giriş eğitimine yansıtılmalıdır.
The good quality of teachers for individuals depends on how much importance is given to teachers. First-year teachers can adversely affect on the development of students owing to the lack of their experiences. Mentoring programs occurred by mentors can be an effective way for enhancing professional skills of first-year teachers. The current research aims to determine views of 8 primary school principals and 8 primary school teachers regarding with mentors’ qualifications and the mentoring program. Therefore, the research has been structured through the phenomenological approach based on the qualitative research method. Results have been reached by transforming the data collected by the interview technique to 6 themes through the descriptive analyzing technique. Consequently; the current research has found the importance of effective and quality the mentoring program due to the necessity of professional experience in terms of first-year teachers. The efficiency of the mentoring program has connected to choosing pre-service teachers to universities and training them. Another finding has been about qualifications of mentors being the most important actor of the mentoring program. These qualifications have been like having effective human relationships and communications skills, having ethical values, being role-model, having vision. The content of the mentoring program should include class-management, introducing students, the relationship of parents and principals. Furthermore, the research has reached the findings about the significance of supervision of the mentoring program and of the education of mentors.
