Kapadokya, taşıdığı kültürel mirasın yanı sıra, eşsiz doğal güzellikleri ile macera ve doğa turizminin yapılabildiği en elverişli bölgelerden biridir. Birçok macera turizmi türünün deneyimlenebildiği bölgede, sıcak hava balon turları Kapadokya’da turizminin gelişimine ve çeşitlenmesine önemli katkılar sağlamaktadır. Son 20 yıl içerisinde Kapadokya’da balon turizmi ile ilişkilendirilebilen önemli yatırımlar yapılmıştır. Bu yatırımlar gerek Türkiye’de gerekse dünyada öne çıkmayı başarmışlardır. Kapadokya Bölgesi’nde 1990’lı yıllarda ivme kazanan sıcak hava balonculuğu, bölgenin katma değeri yüksek ekonomik getiri kaynaklarından birisidir. Bugün, Kapadokya’nın, Türkiye ve dünyanın en önemli balon uçuş merkezi olduğunu söylenebilir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Kapadokya sıcak hava balonculuğunun ne zaman başladığını, tarihsel bir süreç içeresinde nasıl geliştiğini, bölge için önemini belirlemektir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemi ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Kapadokya’da sıcak hava balonculuğuna geçmişte tanık olmuş işletmeci, pilot ve sektör temsilcilerinden oluşan on katılımcı ile görüşülmüştür. Araştırmanın bulguları kapsamında, Kapadokya sıcak hava balonculuğunun tarihçesi ve gelişim sürecini gösteren tablolar oluşturulmuş, ayrıca bölge turizmine ekonomik, çevresel, mevsimsel, tanıtım ve imaj yönlü etkileri belirlenmiştir.
In addition to its cultural heritage, Cappadocia is one of the most favorable places for adventure and nature tourism with its unique natural beauty. In the area where many types of adventure tourism can be experienced, hot air balloon tours make important contributions to the development and diversification of tourism in Cappadocia.
In the last 20 years, significant investments have been made in Cappadocia that can be associated with balloon tourism. These investments should have been able to stand out in the world as well as in Turkey. Hot air ballooning, which gained momentum in the 1990s in the Cappadocia Region, is one of the region's high value-added economic return sources. Today, Cappadocia, Turkey, and said that the most important center of the world balloon flight.
The aim of this study is to determine when Cappadocia hot air ballooning started, how it developed in a historical process and its importance for the region. Qualitative research method and semi-structured interview technique were used in the study. In Cappadocia, ten participants were interviewed, consisting of operators, pilot and sector representatives who have witnessed hot air ballooning in the past. Within the scope of the findings of the study, tables showing the history of Cappadocia hot air ballooning and its development process were formed, and economic, environmental, seasonal, promotional and image oriented effects of the region tourism were determined.
