Osmanlı toplumunda kahvehaneler

Abstract

Bu tez, Osmanlı Devleti'nde kahvehanelerin toplumsal yaşam içerisinde üslendiği fonksiyon ve işlevlerin yanı sıra bu mekânlar üzerinde devletin uyguladığı denetimi incelemektedir. XVI. yüzyıldan itibaren Osmanlı şehirlerinde önemli sosyalleşme mekânı olan kahvehaneler, erkek merkezli, heterojen müşteri profili ve teatral ifade tarzıyla, siyasi hiciv merkezi olmuştur. Buradan yola çıkarak, erken modern dönem Osmanlı kahvehanelerinin kamusal alandaki yeri ve kamuoyunun oluşum sürecine katkı sağlayan önemli bir mekânlar olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. This thesis studies, the mission and function of coffee houses on the communal living in Ottoman Empire as well as the inspection methods of the Empire for coffee houses. From the 16th century, the coffee houses which was an important place of socializing in Ottoman cities became a center of political satire with theatrical style statements and malestream, heterogeneous customer profile. Starting here, early modern period Ottoman coffee houses provide evidences that they were important places in terms of in the public sphere and contributing to the formation of public opinion.
