Hititçe Çivi Yazılı Metinlerde hilammar Yapısı

Abstract

Hittites, who took its place as a big empire in 2000 B.C. in history, inform us a lot through the cuneiform texts. Many words exist in the texts. One of them is hilammar, a Hittite word. Meaning door, entrance door, columned hall also, hilammar is evaluated to mean as the part to enter sacred places in temples. Acceptable as a part of a sacred structure, hilammar is a passing area. Almost all temples have a hilammar part. hilammar has an important part in Hittite arcitecture but we see more advanced samples in Late Hittite Period. We see the Word hilammar in Hittite rituals and fests. The main reason that hilammar word to mean as a door and an passing area is that hila- in Hittite means “hall”. In documents, kings are written to reach hilammar structure and pass through it. hilammar structure emerged as a place that belongings are put and taken. We see that this area is washed with water. These structures, where magician women conduct their rituals, took their place in documents. We explained their place in Hittite world by exemplifying them from different texts.
