Ritüel bellek

Abstract

Ritüel ve bellek, toplum ve kültür, gelenek ve bilgi arasındaki ilişkiler kümesi, yapısal anlamda birbirini bütünlemektedir. Ritüel, en kısa tanımıyla tekrara dayalı olarak üretilen davranışlardır. Bu anlamda gelenekle sürekli olarak ilintilidir. Ritüel, toplumun geleneksel kodlarını barındırır. Ritüellerde, toplumun ortak kültürel algı ve tasarımlarını görmek mümkündür. Antropoloji, sosyoloji, teoloji, mitoloji alanıyla ilgilenen araştırıcılar tarafından ritüel, insan ve toplum yapısının, düşünce dünyasının açıklanması için bir araç olarak kullanılmıştır. Ritüelin din ve inanç sisteminde önemli bir bilgi aktarma işlevine sahip olduğu söylenmiştir. Özellikle ritüel bellek konusunda çok fazla çalışmanın olmaması bu konuda bir düşünce ileri sürmeyi gerekli kılmıştır. Ritüele bilgi, bilinç ve bellek eksenli bakmak bu çalışmanın temel amacıdır. Ritüel bellek, şeklinde bir ifade kullanmamızın sebebi, söz konusu terimin hem kültürel, toplumsal, bireysel bellekten farklı olduğunu vurgulamak hem de buna bağlı olarak bilgi aktarımıyla birlikte bilgi depolama sistemi şeklinde görülmesinden ileri gelmektedir. Bedensel hareketlerin tekrarına dayalı görselliğin bellekte kalıcılığı elbette geleneksel inanç ve düşünüş tarzının temel aktarımıyla yani kültürel bellekle de desteklenir. Ritüel bellek, sadece zihinsel kalıplarda söze dayalı hatırlatıcı unsurlarla değil aynı zamanda görme ve duyma yetisiyle birlikte dokunma hissiyatıyla da anımsatma işlevlerine sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, ritüel bellek olarak belirtilen kavram gerek alan araştırmasındaki tecrübelerle gerek literatür taramasından elde edilen verilerle incelenmiştir.

Set of relationships between ritual and memory, society and culture, and tradition and knowledge integrates each other structurally. Ritual, in its shortest definition, is behaviours that are produced based on repetition. In this sense, it is consistently related to tradition. Ritual contains traditional codes of society. It is possible to see mutual (collective) cultural perceptions and designs of society in rituals. Ritual was used by researchers who are interested in the fields of anthropology, sociology, theology and mythology, to explain human’ and society’s structure and world of thought. It was said that ritual had an important knowledge transferring/conveying function in religious and belief system. Particularly, the fact that there are not many studies on ritual and memory or ritual memory necessitated to bring forward an idea on this subject. To regard ritual as knowledge-conscious-memory-oriented is main purpose of this study. Reason for which we use such a phase as ritual memory is due to the fact that both the said term is different from cultural, social, individual memory, and therefore that it is seen as knowledge storage system together with knowledge transferring/conveying. Permanence in memory of a visuality based on repetition of bodily movement for sure is also supported by basic transfer/convey of traditional style of belief and thinking, i.e, cultural memory. Ritual memory not only has oral remander elements in mental patterns but also has evocation functions with tactual sensation as well as sense of sight and hearing. In this study, the concept referred to as ritual memory was examined with both experiences in field research and data obtained from literature review.
