Xi Jinping döneminde Hong Kong protestoları: Şemsiye hareketi ve 2019 protestoları üzerine bir karşılaştırma

Abstract

Çin, ekonomik olarak 21. yüzyılın güçlü bir ülkesi haline gelmiştir. Ancak bu güçlü ekonominin birçok siyasi sorunu vardır. Tarihsel geçmişiyle Çin için önemli bir yere sahip olan Hong Kong, 1997 yılında Çin’e devredilmesinden sonra “Tek Ülke İki Sistem” modeli ile yönetilmeye devam etmiştir. Bu süreçte, Hong Kong’da gerçekleşen 2014 Şemsiye Hareketi ve 2019 protestoları Çin ile gerginliğin giderek artmasına neden olmuştur. Bu çerçevede, Çin’in en güçlü liderlerinden biri olarak kabul edilen Xi Jinping’in 2014 ve 2019 Hong Kong protestolarına yaklaşımı bu sorunun çözümünde belirleyici olmaktadır. Çalışmada, 2014 Şemsiye Hareketi ve 2019 yıllarındaki protestoların genel bir değerlendirilmesi yapılmış ve Xi Jinping’in protestolara yaklaşımlarındaki benzerlikler ve farklılıklar kronolojik olarak gösterilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, Xi Jinping’in yönetimdeki gücünü artırmasının ve Trump yönetimindeki ABD’nin protestolara yaklaşımının Xi Jinping’in 2019 protestolarına daha sert tepki vermesine sebep olduğu ortaya konulmuştur.

China has become an economically powerful country of the 21st century. However, this strong economy has many political problems. Hong Kong, which has an important place for China with its historical past, continued to be managed with the “One Country Two Systems” model after it was transferred to China in 1997. In this process, The Umbrella Movement in 2014 and the protests in Hong Kong in 2019 have caused tensions to increase between China and Hong Kong. In this context, Xi Jinping is considered as one of China’s most powerful leaders and his approach to the 2014 and 2019 Hong Kong protests is decisive in the solution of this problem. In the study, a general evaluation of the 2014 Umbrella Movement and the protests in 2019 was made and the similarities and differences in Xi Jinping’s approach to the protests were shown chronologically. As a result, it has been demonstrated that Xi Jinping’s increasing power in the administration and the approach of the USA to the protests under the Trump administration caused Xi Jinping to react more strongly to the 2019 protests
